Include Calm/Haven Spaces
Overstimulation can overwhelm children, especially those with sensory sensitivities. Calm and private spaces within playgrounds allow these children to decompress and regain control, improving their overall experience.

- Install small enclosures, like tipis, houses, or tubes, for secluded activities.
- Use natural materials like wood and fabric to create soothing environments.
- Include sensory-friendly nooks, such as baskets or “nests,” where children can feel embraced and safe
