Ramp Design and Specifications

Ramps are essential for providing access to higher or lower areas in urban spaces. When designed correctly, ramps ensure that individuals with mobility aids, strollers, and others who face challenges with stairs can move freely and comfortably.

Accessible ramp with slopes according to length, railings, curbs and rest areas every 9 meters maximum.
  • Minimum ramp width: 1.80 meters for wheelchair and stroller accessibility.
  • Maximum slope: 10% for sections up to 3 meters, 8% for sections up to 9 meters.
  • Maximum transverse slope: 2%.
  • Ensure landings are as wide as the ramp with a minimum depth of 1.50 meters.
  • Install handrails on both sides of ramps and include tactile paving for clear guidance.
  • Ensure a minimum free height clearance of 2.20 meters at ramp entries.
  • Include a staircase nearby for alternative access.
