Tables and Picnic Areas

Providing well-designed seating and table options in pedestrian zones is key to fostering comfort, inclusivity, and social interaction. By adhering to specific size, height, and clearance guidelines, public spaces can better accommodate a wide range of users, including those with mobility aids.

  • Tables must provide at least 80 cm of surface width to comfortably accommodate various users and activities.
  • The table height should not exceed 85 cm, ensuring easy use for individuals in wheelchairs or of shorter stature.
  • Ensure that at least one table per grouping, or one in every five tables, includes unobstructed underside space of 70 × 80 × 50 cm.
  • Allow for a free area of at least 1.50 meters in diameter to ensure accessibility for wheelchair users.
