Examination room
Patients with reduced mobility require frequent X-ray imaging studies or spinal scans. However, traditional equipment does not always allow for unassisted use. It is crucial that radiology facilities have adjustable equipment and adapted environments, ensuring that these studies are performed autonomously, safely, with dignity and without physical barriers or total dependence on third parties.
- Equipment should be height adjustable and have movable trays for use from different positions, even in a wheelchair.
- Tilting tables allow spinal scans without the need for transfer.
- CT and MRI should have wide opening and accessible tables (with transfer) for all body types.
- Doors should be automatic and without thresholds; floors should be non-slip.
- Space should allow for cranes.
- Signage, lighting and controls should be accessible.
