Elevator Design for Accessibility
Elevators offer an essential alternative to stairs and ramps, making urban spaces more accessible. Clear signage, appropriate cabin sizes, tactile markings, and features like Braille and high-contrast buttons ensure that everyone can use elevators independently, regardless of ability.

- Elevators should have partial transparency and be clearly marked for easy identification.
- Ensure varied cabin sizes depending on door configuration (1.10 x 1.40 m to 1.60 x 1.40 m).
- Install wide doors (minimum 90 cm clear passage width) and ensure easy visibility through mirrors.
- Buttons should have high contrast, raised symbols, Braille, and clear floor numbers.
- Ensure accessible alarm systems and magnetic induction loops for hearing-impaired users.
- Ensure clearance of at least 1.50 meters of obstacle-free space in front of elevator doors.
- Install tactile paving strips outside elevator doors at all stops.
